LISCO Fiber-to-the-Home IPTV

IPTV

IPTV stands for Internet Protocol Television. IPTV is the latest, most advanced technology for delivering television programming. All the channels will be high digital quality, delivered via optical fiber to your home.

100% fiber optic network

Compared to other delivery systems, like copper or cable, optical fiber can carry much more programming. This means potentially more choices and a better quality picture for you.

Big Ten Network and the NFL Network

When video is available, you’ll get more than 150 music and video channels – including the Big Ten Network and the NFL Network – all in digital quality, including standard and high definition programming, premium channels, local channels, Video-on-Demand with both free and pay-per-view content, and DVRs.

Expanded basic channel package

Standard definition channels selection will be extensive with unique offerings. And all will be crystal clear, of high digital quality. Watch for more details on programming on this site.

Top premium channels

When you subscribe to one of our premium services like HBO and Cinemax you can select from current favorites to original programming, 24 hours a day.

High Definition channels

A package of High-Definition channels will be available. High-Definition TV (HDTV) is the new generation of television, with a high-resolution image showing five times as much information as regular TV.  It also delivers high-end, surround sound audio.  An HDTV image is an absolute jaw-dropper the first time you experience it.  It looks real.  It’s strikingly sharp and detailed, more like a photographic image than a TV screen.

The HDTV signal uses a wide screen format that corresponds better than regular TV to the human visual field.  The wider field of view makes it easier to follow the action in sports programs.  Also, contemporary films, which are wide-screen format, suffer when reformatted to fit a standard television screen.  Viewed on standard TV, the sides of the image get thrown away, sacrificing a great deal of the artistic intent of the film.  All the networks are already carrying HDTV programming.  So are many of the premium channels, like HBO and Discovery.

A HDTV video stream requires a bandwidth of up to 20 megabits per second. Compared to cable, optical fiber has an enormous bandwidth advantage.  It can carry far more simultaneous HDTV channels than cable. This will be important for any multiple-TV household that wants to watch and/or record more than one HD program at a time.
HDTV is the future of television, and fiber is the best means of delivering it.

Video On Demand

Watch what you want when you want! LISCO Video-On-Demand (VOD) service will give you access to a huge library of the latest movies and other programming. Since LISCO's VOD service will be over fiber, it will allow simultaneous streaming of several programs at the same time. Or, if you are downloading a program, the transfer can take place at enormous speeds. Service over fiber makes service over cable seem like a dial-up connection.

Digital Video Recorder (DVR)

A choice of DVRs will be available. You will have the freedom to pause and rewind live TV, record one show while watching another, and fast forward to your favorite part. And there will be options that allow viewing from more than one TV.

The Future of Television

We are seeing an unprecedented growth in delivery of television, films, and other video products as downloads over the Internet. These are typically very large files and only an infrastructure like LISCO Fiber-to-the-Home can provide the bandwidth needed to take full advantage of these new choices. The future of video is not just a hundred or so cable TV channels. The future will offer almost unlimited choices, and LISCO Fiber-to-the-Home will bring that future to you.
